Munich is city located in the region of Bavaria in southern Germany. It is just above the Swiss Alps. During World War I Munich faced a lot of trouble. Three bombs were dropped on the city during the French air raids. In World War II the city was hit by 71 air raids over the course of six years. Another major event that Munich is famous for is the Massacre of the Israeli athletes during the 1972 Olympics by a group of Palestinian rebels known as the Black September.

Performing arts are also very common in Munich. Opera is shown quite frequently at major theatres. Two famous performances are the Bavarian State Opera and the Bavarian State Orchestra.
